You're in.
Here's your design template (and a little something extra)
Welcome — I'm so glad you found your way here.
Your STR Design Template is here! Download the PDF here, save it somewhere you'll actually find it, and use it shamelessly. That's what it's for. (Just click the link and you’ll be prompted to download it— it’s about 20 pages of delicious help).
But before you go, I want to tell you a little bit about why I made it — and why it looks the way it does.
I've been hosting for nearly 14 years, and mentoring new hosts for Airbnb since 2020. In that time, I've learned that the hosts who love hosting — the ones who still light up talking about a guest who left a handwritten note, or the couple who said it was the best trip of their marriage — aren't necessarily the ones running the tightest spreadsheets. They're the ones who put thought into their space, their communication, and the experience they're creating.
That's what I'm here to help you do.
Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be sending you some of my best thinking on what actually makes short-term rental hosting work — not just financially, but in that deeper way where you don't dread your phone buzzing on a Sunday morning. In these welcome emails, I talk about design that tells a story, communication that prevents 90% of guest drama before it starts, and how to set up your space so it takes care of you as much as it takes care of your guests.
I won’t be going into tech stack breakdowns or revenue optimization rabbit holes, because I think those are often fantasy bandaids for hosts who aren’t hosting with humanity: Great hosting (and great revenue) follow from thoughtful, intentional hospitality, and smart decision making.
Writing about sharing domestic space has been a passion of mine for years— I used to be an English Professor, and I’d write about houses in literature. In my newsletter The Check-In, I write about these contemporary spaces we’re using as rentals, but I also plan to go beyond checklists and suggestions— stay tuned!
If you ever want to work together more directly — whether that's a one-on-one mentoring session, help getting your listing off the ground, or design guidance for your space — I'd love to hear what you're working on. You can always find me at hostwithelise.com or just hit reply on any of my emails. I read them all.
Now go grab that template. More soon.
Warmly,
Elise
